Container Tilting Installation

Delmeco designed, provided and installed two container tilting installations for Sims Recycling Solutions to help them unload the contents of 20 ft. containers responsibly and safely (taking H&S regulations into account).

A truck places the container on the tilting installation with its hook arm system. The container is secured on the tilting installation by means of the locking system. A door stop is used so that the container doors can be opened safely. This ensures that the contents of the container will never spill over the operator. After the door locks have been uncoupled, the doors are opened automatically by the door stop. The controls ensure that the contents of the container are dumped on the conveyor in a controlled manner.

The assignment comprised:

• Engineering the container tilting installation;
• Constructing the container tilting installation incl. safety features (such as door stopper and guard) and support construction;
• Constructing the control panel incl. testing the automation at Delmeco;
• Installing (E and W) on site at Sims in Eindhoven;
• Running a SAT (Site Acceptance Test) at Sims.

For this project, it was Delmeco’s responsibility (from design to realisation) to complete the container tilting installation and deliver it turn-key and operating.
