COVRA (Central Storage Facility for Radioactive Waste, the Netherlands) is the single company in the Netherlands who is responsible for collecting, processing and storing radioactive waste. COVRA plans to build a new facility called MOG (Multifunctional Storage Facility). This facility is fitting for the waste expected to arrive the coming years and allows suitable storage capacity until 2050.
The MOG will be used to store low-to-medium-activity waste canisters in stackable containers. Among others, the facility is mostly intended for storage of the historical waste, currently still stored in the Dutch town Petten. Further, future waste from all Dutch nuclear facilities will also be stored in the MOG.
To allow the waste to be handled, a large series of machines is to be developed.
Our Delmeco Engineering Facility received the assignment from COVRA to develop all process equipment for this facility, to handle the waste from collection until storage.
Moreover, our executive agency Delmeco Projects was assigned to build this equipment.
Because of Delmeco’s experience in the nuclear industry together with tailor made machine development, we’re capable of executing these kind of projects in good order.
We’re proud of the trust placed in us to develop and supply this magnificent equipment!
