For the safe transport of solid nuclear waste from NRG to COVRA, Delmeco designed and supplied a complete set of stainless steel drums and corresponding transport pallets. The project involved a total of 48 drums with support pallets for NRG, and 24 transport pallets for COVRA.

Scope of work:

  • Design and engineering of stainless steel drums, support pallets, and transport pallets

  • Manufacturing of 48 stainless steel drums (AISI 316) with lids, rain covers, and lead filling

  • Manufacturing of 48 galvanized steel support pallets for the drums

  • Supply of 24 galvanized steel transport pallets for combined transport of drums and pallets

  • Execution of a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)

The products were designed to enable the safe transport of nuclear waste in full compliance with applicable standards within the nuclear sector.

Delmeco was responsible for the complete process—from design and engineering to final delivery.

NRG (Nuclear Research & consultancy Group) specializes in nuclear services for the energy, environmental, and health sectors. Their activities include consultancy, testing, and the production of medical isotopes.

COVRA N.V.
COVRA is the Central Organisation for Radioactive Waste in the Netherlands. The company processes and stores radioactive substances—both solid and liquid—safely and is responsible for the national management of nuclear waste.
