Delmeco designed, supplied, and installed a chemical injection system for COVRA N.V. to enable the safe and responsible injection of eight different chemicals into the water treatment system used for processing nuclear liquids. The installation is designed to allow chemicals to be transferred into the system without any exposure to the surrounding environment or personnel.
Through the integrated automation system, operators can define a chemical “recipe” specifying which substances must be injected into the nuclear wastewater for treatment within the reactor vessel.
Scope of work (disciplines: mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automation, and HVAC):
-
Design and engineering of the installation by Delmeco Raadgevend Ingenieursbureau B.V.
-
Fabrication of the system at Delmeco
-
Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) at Delmeco
-
On-site installation at COVRA, including connection to the existing water treatment system
-
Site Acceptance Test (SAT) at COVRA
Delmeco was responsible for the full turn-key delivery of the chemical injection system—covering all engineering disciplines from initial design to final realization.
Client
COVRA N.V. (Central Organisation for Radioactive Waste) is responsible for the safe processing and storage of radioactive materials—both solid and liquid—in the Netherlands. COVRA plays a central role in the national management of nuclear waste.
